The LoveStrong Scholarship was established in 2012 by the Smith family in memory of Leslie Smith, whose daughters were four-year members of the Harrison H2oyas. Leslie's strength, compassion, and perseverance continue to inspire the scholarship's mission.
Following the passing of Naval Commander Chris Kalafut in 2014, the Smith family graciously agreed to expand the scholarship to also honor his legacy. Chris's five children were all members of the H2oyas.
Today, the LoveStrong Scholarship recognizes Harrison Swim & Dive seniors who have demonstrated resilience through personal adversity while continuing to maintain a positive attitude, commitment to the sport of swimming, commitment to their continuing education and contribution to their community.
The LoveStrong Scholarship is awarded to 1 male athlete and 1 female athlete each year based on submitted applications. Applications will be due at the end of January and the recipients will be announced at the Season Banquet in February.
